Introduction to Rubber Ink Stamps

Rubber ink stamps used for crafting and other jobs are a useful product. These are actually pieces of rubber shaped to a particular pattern or image. This piece of rubber is then mounted on a block. This can then be coated with ink which will help your transfer the image or pattern on paper or fabric. Among the several types of stamps available, the most basic three stamps are Regular Ink Stamps, Self Inking stamps and pre inked stamps.

The regular kind of ink stamps come with an ink pad that can be bought separately. The inks come in a variety of colors and these are easily found and inexpensive to buy. These stamps can be used for craft work as well as office work. Although a little messy to use, these ink stamps can be used for a number of different designs. Anything can be decorated with these stamps. The stamps can last for ages as long as you keep replacing the ink pad time to time.

Self inking stamps from companies like Cosco, Trodat and Ideal are the mechanical ones and these come with an internal stamp pad. This pad is attached to the stamp itself. A swivel action causes the stamp to hit the internal inkpad. If you need something to use often for example at the workplace, these stamps are easy to use and less messy. The stamps are re-ink able. These reasonably priced stamps will be replaced by a different stamp once the inkpad finishes.

The Pre Inked Stamps are made with dye saturated over the design. The three kinds of pre inked stamps are Polymer pre inked stamps; laser engraved vulcanized rubber stamps and flash stamps. These stamps are great for extended office use but are expensive due to their high tech mechanism. They are sturdy and long lasting and can be used frequently. They might be expensive to buy at first but re inking them is cheap and makes it more cost effective in the long run. These are very high quality ink stamps.

Stamp collecting as a hobby also gives you a chance to decorate personal letters and greeting cards as well as banners and fabrics for décor purposes.
